"100-Year Perspective" is a documentary study examining the change in the visual language of Turkish cinema over a century. The film addresses the transformation of the technical and narrative features of Turkish cinema within the framework of interactions with world cinema and the effects of local conditions.
The documentary documents the visual narrative of Turkish cinema in periods with archive studies and interviews with names from different areas of the industry. It shows with examples from films how the unique technical possibilities and social conditions of each period shaped cinema from 1914 to the present.
The study, which analyzes changes in camera use, lighting techniques, framing approaches, and color applications in the process from Yeşilçam to the contemporary period, also examines the social and economic background of these transformations. It documents the reflections of trends in world cinema on Turkish cinema and original solutions developed under local conditions with excerpts from period films.
The production brings together the contributions of director Kutluğ Ataman, Erden Kıral, Duygu Sağıroğlu, and Tayfun Pirselimoğlu from different generations of Turkish cinema; cinematographers Uğur İçbak and Gökhan Tiryaki; film critics Burçak Evren and Alin Taşçıyan; producer Necip Sarıcı, and academics.
