At the end of 2010, protests that began with a Tunisian street vendor setting himself on fire became the first spark of a wave that would fundamentally shake the region's political structure. This fire in Tunisia quickly spread to Egypt, Libya, Yemen, and Syria, turning into an uprising against authoritarian regimes that had ruled in the Middle East and North Africa for decades.

"Tempest at Crossroads" documents this great transformation with in-depth interviews conducted with dozens of political scientists, historians, activists, and eyewitnesses on three continents. Shoots ranging from think tanks in London to rural areas of Tunisia, from Cairo squares to conflict zones in Yemen, address this historical process with a multidimensional perspective.

While the documentary investigates the relationship between social movements and historical factors, it brings together academic analyses with street testimonies in a unique narrative. The English-language production, which includes many local languages including Arabic in interviews, documents the different faces of regional transformation.

The 8-episode series broadcast on TRT World presents an in-depth analysis of the complex geopolitical developments in the Middle East to a global audience, making them understandable.
